You show them the love and value you have for them that they don't have for themselves anymore. You’re giving them back their worth, strength, power and hope, all of which their trafficker has taken away from them. When frontline workers speak with these survivors who are trying to safely exit, it is usually the mental and emotional abuse, threats, manipulation and control that keep the victims in bondage to their traffickers — I know that’s what kept me in bondage to my trafficker for so long.

That is why your generous donation of a Freedom Box — which comes with a hand-written card filled with encouraging words that I, Sarah Dillon, a survivor, have written — gives them hope and reminds them how strong they truly are. I tell them it is possible to escape, like I did, which will hopefully encourage them to leave.
